Amazon will eliminate 9,000 more jobs in the next few weeks, primarily in AWS, PXT, Advertising, and Twitch, according to CEO Andy Jassy.

亚马逊首席执行官安迪·杰西（Andy Jassy）表示，亚马逊将在未来几周内再次裁员9000人，主要是在AWS、PXT、广告和Twitch领域。

The news comes after the end of the second phase of the retail giant’s operating plan （“OP2”） in what Jassy called “a difficult decision”。

这一消息是在这家零售巨头第二阶段运营计划（“OP2”）结束后发布的，杰西称之为“艰难的决定”。

He cited existing and future economic challenges as a reason for the job cuts, adding that Amazon’s annual planning this year had to be leaner while allowing the company to invest in “the key long-term customer experiences”。

The job cuts come on top of the 18,000 roles that were axed in January.

Today, he wrote: “Some may ask why we didn’t announce these role reductions with the ones we announced a couple months ago.”

“The short answer is that not all of the teams were done with their analyses in the late fall; and rather than rush through these assessments without the appropriate diligence, we chose to share these decisions as we’ve made them so people had the information as soon as possible.”

According to Jassy, it’s not yet been conclusively decided as to which jobs will be cut.

However, once the eliminations are finalised, all impacted employees will be contacted and supported with a package including a separation payment, transitional health insurance benefits and external job placement support.

Jassy said he remains “very optimistic” about the company’s future and customer experiences Amazon is investing in.
