If he compares with his sister, he is not intelligent at all.
✘ If he compares with his sister, he is not intelligent at all.
If he compares with his sister,语法上是“他自己去和姐姐比”,但实际想表达的是:“他”和“姐姐”是被比较的对象,而不是“他主动去比”。
✔ Compared with his sister, he is not intelligent at all.
Life is often compared to a journey.
Compared with last year, our sales have increased.
compare to = 找相似;compare with = 找不同
Compared with boys of his age, he is indeed lucky.
Compared with the old system, the new one is more efficient.
Compared with last month, this month’s expenses are lower.
When he is compared with his sister, he is not intelligent at all.
Compared with his sister, he is not intelligent at all.
Nothing can compare with...
Nothing can compare with the beauty of Guilin scenery.
compare A with B:拿 A 和 B 做比较(找不同)
compare A to B:把 A 比作 B(找相似)
He cannot compare with Shakespeare as a writer of tragedies.
If you compare the present with the past, you will find a great difference.
Compared with..., ... is much more...
与…… 更加……
In comparison with..., ... appears to be...
If we compare A with B, we will find that...
Compared with the old method, the new one is not only faster but also more accurate.
If we compare urban life with rural life, we will see both advantages and disadvantages in each.
