辨 析：
原译没有用行话，股票用语中的jump不是“跳上去”的意思，而是指大幅上升的“暴涨”。
下面我们说说英语如何表示汉语的“跳”字。
有人将“跳绳”译作jump the rope，是犯了想当然的错误，他认为“跳”就是jump。其实英语jump表示的范围和汉语“跳”表示的范围是不一样的。
jump 指一般的“跳”，最新版的《朗文当代英语辞典》（Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English ）的解释是：“ to push yourself up into the air, or over or away from something etc using your legs” （用双腿使自己向上进入空中或越过或离开某物）。“
跳高”是high jump，“
跳远”是broad jump（原指跳过某个宽度的河、沟等，现在也说long jump，但不能说far jump 或distant jump），
“起跳板”叫jumping board，
“跳上一辆公共汽车”是jump onto a bus，
“高兴得跳起来”是jump with joy，
jump ships是“跳槽”（指“换工作”，因为英国是岛国，很多成语与航海有关）。
但是有时jump却不能译作“跳”，如jump the queue/line是“插队”的意思，jump a light/the red light是“闯红灯”，而jump the gun是“抢跑”（裁判的发令枪没有响就起跑，现在也转指“不经思考匆忙做某事”）等。“从一个话题跳到另一个话题”是jump from one subject into another。
jump 也可用作名词，如give somebody a jump是“让某人吓一跳”，如果用复数give somebody the jumps，则是“使某人心惊肉跳”的意思。
jump 还可以指“快”，如jump at a job指“马上/抢着接受一项工作”，jump to a conclusion指“匆忙得出结论”，jump to one's feet指“很快站起来”，并没有“跳”的动作，jump into action指“立即投入行动”，叫某人立即做某事时可以对他说：“Jump to it!”
反过来，英语里表示“跳”的不只有jump，下面就来分别说一说。
“向前跳跃”是leap：Look before you leap是叫人“看清楚了再往前跳”。
“大跃进”就译为the great leap forward（向前跳跃一大步），
“蛙跳”是frog leap，
“一条鱼跳出水面”是A fish leapt out of the water，
“高兴得跳起来”是leap for joy。
短语by leaps and bounds（突飞猛进）中的bound是“反弹”的意思，同义词是bounce。
“小学生蹦蹦跳跳地来到操场”译为The pupils bounced to the playground，仪表上的“跳针”英语叫bouncing pin/needle。
像蚂蚱那样弹跳是hop，所以蚂蚱叫grass-hopper。
三级跳远（triple jump）的三跳分别是hop（单足跳），step（向前跨步跳）和jump。
儿童玩的“跳房子”游戏英语叫hopscotch。
“快速跳槽”叫job-hopping。
“跳越（过障碍）”是vault (over...)，所以 “撑杆跳高”一般说pole vault，而体操中的“跳马”叫vaulting horse。“劫匪跳过柜台抢走了珠宝”译为The robber vaulted the counter and grabbed away the jewelry， 不过“骑着马跳过篱笆”也可以说jump the horse over a fence。
“跳绳”是rope skipping（skip ropes），看书时“跳过某页”是skip a certain page，“逃学”可以说skip school/class，“跳级”是skip a grade，“忙得顾不上吃午饭”是skip one's lunch because one is too busy。
“打水漂”的英语是The stone skipped over the surface of the water，有一种善于在水面跳动前进的鱼就叫skipjack，突然或偷偷地离开某个地方也可以说skip a place。
“心跳”也可以说jump，但指激烈跳动，如：
Her heart jumped when she heard the bad news.听到那个坏消息，她的心猛地一跳 。
I jumped at his unexpected entry.他突然进来，吓 我一跳 。
心脏有规律的跳动是beat，如“他的心跳停了一下”是 His heart skipped/missed a beat。
口语中还有一个用得较多的表示“跳”的词jig，指快速跳动，实际上是一种舞蹈动作，有人译为“吉格舞”。
有力地弹跳是spring（此词作名词可指弹簧），如：
The tiger sprang on me.老虎向我扑 过来。
He sprang across the crook.他跳 过小河。
He sprang out of the bed.他一跃 下床。
“一举成名”可译为spring into fame。
以上所说的是一般情况，有时候jump, leap, spring可以通用。
“跳水”有专门的词dive，此词强调快速向下运动，所以飞机俯冲也叫dive或nosedive。
“跳伞”是parachute（可作动词或名词）。
大家都知道“跳舞”是dance。至于巫师的“跳大神”则是dance in a trance。
汉语口语说的“气得直跳”的“跳”，实际上是“跺脚”，英文是stamp one's feet (with rage)。
