阅读到一半突然蹦出个生词，查字典嫌慢，不查又怕错过重点？其实老外自己也在猜！教你三招“上下文推测术”，不用词典也能秒懂大意，考试阅读、原版小说都能用！

1. 定义信号词

看见means, is, refers to, that is，后面八成是解释。

• A nocturnal animal, that is one that is active at night, often has big eyes.
  看到that is秒懂：nocturnal=夜间活动的。

2. 同义反义线索：找“双胞胎”或“死对头”

3. 用故事猜词

作者常给例子，把词放进画面。

• Many omnivores, such as bears and humans, eat both plants and meat.
  看到bears and humans吃植物+肉，秒懂omnivores=杂食动物。

4. 词根词缀小助攻

前缀后缀一拆，意思跑不了。

• unhappy → un(不)+happy(高兴)=不高兴

• rewrite → re(再)+write(写)=重写

读句子→找信号→秒猜义

1. The river was so turbid that we couldn’t see the bottom.
   信号：couldn’t see the bottom → turbid=浑浊

2. Unlike his gregarious sister, Tom enjoys staying alone.
   信号：Unlike+stay alone → gregarious=爱社交
