一、表示“返回”，相当于go back。

Ann will visit you when she returns to London.

安回到伦敦后会来看你。

注意：当“返回”时是不及物动词，先加to才可再加地点。

另外，return已含有back的意思，后不可再跟back。

二、表示“归还”，相当于“give back”

I have returned the dictionary.

我已经把字典还了。

当“归还”时是及物动词，后直接加物，不加to. 同样不可再跟back。

表示：还给某人时，加to。

You should return the dictionary to Dick on time. 

你应该按时把字典还给迪克。

三、in return：作为回报；反过来

We made too many concessions and we got too little in return. 

我们作出了太多让步，但得到的回报太少。
