Occupation Orientation and Career Goal
There is no doubt that job hunting is a grave problem with which college graduates are confronted. 1
There are various reasons for graduates’ being increasingly difficult to secure an ideal job. 2 For example, colleges and universities have enrolled so many students that the number of graduates is far greater than needed in the market. And the job vacancies are insufficient during the economic depression. Nevertheless, as far as I am concerned, the most critical factor is that a large number of college students haven’t figured out right occupation orientation or career goal before they really enter the society. In reality, both occupation orientation and career goal are crucial to one’s career development. If one intends to find an ideal job, here are several recommendations.
Above all 3 , college students should seek their own orientation, analyze their personalities and find out their vocational interests, in order to know what jobs they are suitable for and capable of. Then full preparation should be made. Second 3 , job hunters need to make all-round analysis of the job market and professional situation, finding a proper place after considering social needs and personal interests. What’s more 3 , the graduates should set both long-term and short-term goals, making mature and rational choices according to different situations at different career development stages.

As is revealed in the picture, self-employment is like a magnet, attracting a large number of newly graduated college students. 1 Considering the bleak employment situation and the government’s encouragement policies towards college students, it is no surprise that so many graduates choose self-employment instead of finding a job. 2
Self-employment can bring many benefits to the society as well as to the students themselves. 3 For the society, college students starting their own business can ease the pressure of employment. For the students, not only can they put what they learn at school into practice, but also have an opportunity to improve their innovation abilities by combining their theoretical knowledge with social practice. However, college student self-employment also has some disadvantages. 4 For one thing, due to the limitations of college students themselves, such as lack of experience, connections and well-considered plans, etc., it is not easy for them to be successful, thus causing waste of social resources. For another, once they fail in self-employment, they can easily feel depressed and have a breakdown.
In my opinion 5 , as long as the students realize the difficulties and make full preparation, it is worth trying to start their own business. After all, where there is a will, there is a way. 6

breakdown n.

We can see in the picture that the white-haired parents are feeding their adult son, who has graduated from college but refuses to work and depends on his parents to live. 1 Here, the adult son is a typical NEET. NEET is an abbreviation for Not in Employment, Education or Training, referring to the young people who are unemployed, not enrolled in school or engaged in housework, and not seeking work or the technical training needed for work but seeking security from parents. 2
In my opinion, there are two reasons behind the phenomenon. 3 For one thing 4 , with the development and popularity of higher education, the number of graduates is increasing each year and the graduates have to face great employment pressure. With the fierce competition in the job market, some of them cannot stand out and then stay at home, relying on their parents. For another 4 , some graduates are generally dissatisfied with the options and opportunities available to them.
In any case, I think there is no excuse for any young people to refuse to work and simply depend on their parents. 5 They should accept their social role as an adult in seeking full-time employment after graduation or further training.
abbreviation n.
enroll v.
for one thing 首先,一则
for another 其次
be dissatisfied with 对……不满意
in any case 不管怎么说
1. NEET is an abbreviation for Not in Employment, Education or Training, referring to the young people who are unemployed, not enrolled in school or engaged in housework, and not seeking work or the technical training needed for work but seeking security from parents.
这是一个很长的复杂句,包含了现在分词短语referring to the young people,定语从句who are unemployed, not enrolled...or the technical training以及过去分词短语needed for work,句式变化多样。
2. For another, some graduates are generally dissatisfied with the options and opportunities available to them.

College Students’ Starting
Their Own UndertakingsNowadays there are many college students who chooseto start their own undertakings instead of finding a job after graduation. Thegovernment encourages this practice, and provides many preferential policies andfacilitation measures for college students. This phenomenon has aroused greatconcern from the whole society.
However, why do so many college students take the way of starting their ownundertakings?Firstly, college students are facing severe employment situations. Many college graduates couldn’t find ideal jobs, which forces them to set uptheir own businesses. Moreover, some ambitious college students are not satisfiedwith being employed by others. They want to develop and prove their talents byrunning their own businesses. Besides, the government’s encouragement and themedia’s reports on college students venture stars have stimulated more collegestudents’ enthusiasm to take this way.
As for me,it is a good choice for college students to start their ownundertakings. However,it is a very difficult cause, which needs firmdetermination, clear mind, ability to endure hardship and a feasible project. Therefore, think it over and make full preparation before you decide to startyour own business.

seeding employment in u.k.
As can be seen clearly from the graph, the difference in the numbers of people working in thethree major employment sectors in the u.k. economy in the early 1980s was relatively small, with about 4 million workers in engineering, 5 million in agriculture and 5.5 million in theservice industries.
However, the period 1980-1990 saw significant changes in the relative sizes of these threeemployment sectors. there was a rapid decline in employment in agriculture, with the numberof workers dropping by more than 80%. On the other, employment oppor tunities in the serviceindustries increased sharply, especially after 1986, whereas the engineering sectorexperienced a gradual but constant decline.
Trends in the above graph clearly indicate that the service industries will continue to employthe largest number of people at least for the next few years, while the engineering sector willneed somewhat fewer workers in the next decade. On the whole, the total number ofemployment offered in these three sectors was much smaller than ten years before and theredoesn't seem to be any likelihood for improvement in the near future. So, students who aregoing to graduate soon may need to prepare to seek employment elsewhere.
