1.用作名词，表示“缺乏”，是不可数名词；表示某一方面的缺乏，其后接介词 of。

Lack of time prevented me from writing. 

我因没有时间而没有写信。

有时可与不定冠词连用。

There has been a great lack of water this summer. 

今年夏天很缺水。

表示“因缺乏……”，通常用介词 because of, for, through 等。

I can’t buy it because of my lack of money. 

我不能买它是因为没钱。

The plants died for [through] lack of water. 

这些植物因为缺水而死了。
