Learning is a Lifelong Career
As food is to the body, so is learning to themind. Our bodies grow and muscles develop withthe intake of adequate nutritious food. Likewise,we should keep learning day by day to maintain ourkeen mental power and expand our intellectualcapacity. Constant learning supplies us withinexhaustible fuel for driving us to sharpen ourpower of reasoning, analysis, and judgment. Learning incessantly is the surest way to keeppace with the times in the information age, and reliable warrant of success in times ofuncertainty.
Once learning stops, vegetation sets in. It is a common fallacy to regard school as the onlyworkshop for the acquisition of knowledge. On the contrary, learning should be a neverending process, from the cradle to the grave. With the world changing so fast, to ceaselearning for just a few days will make a person lag behind. What’ s worse, the animal instinctdormant deep in our sub-conscious will come to life, weakening our will to pursue our nobleideas, undermining our determination to sweep away obstacles to our success and stranglingour desire for the refinement of our character. Lack of learning will inevitably lead to thestagnation of the mind, or even worse, its fossilization. Therefore, to stay mentally young,we have to take learning as a lifelong career.
Going on Study or Going on Work
Currently, the major dilemma which most students face upon graduation is to continue pursuing postgraduate studies or to find a job immediately.
Those who decide to go to work immediately can't wait to put what they have learned intopractice. They believe that only by application can a person master knowledge in the realsense. Most important of all, they can live on their own and have the feeling ofaccomplishment for the first time.
Other people, however, believe that if a person wants to be an expert in a specialized field, four years in university is far from enough. The best way is to choose a direction and study it indepth. It is not late at all when they go to work, bacause they start at a much higher level.
No matter which choice a student will finally make, he has to be extremely careful to look intohis situation and consult the predecessors for their advice. He will make the right choice if he knows his goal in life and how to turn it into reality.

Learning Foreign Languages
In schools all over the world boys and girls are learning foreign languages. Many adults are doing so in their spare time. Everybody knows his own language, but to know another is very useful.
Which is the best way to learn a language? We should remember we all learnt our own language well when we were children. If we could learn a second language in the same way, it would not seem so difficult. Think what a small child does. It listens to what people say and tries to imitate what it hears. When it wants something, it has to ask for it. It is using the language. It is talking and thinking in it all the time. If one has to use a second language all the time, he would learn it quickly.
It is important to remember, also, that we learn our own language by hearing people speaking it not by seeing what they write. We imitate what we hear. In school, though you learn to read and write as well as to hear and speak, it is best to learn all new words through the ear. Of course you also learn to read them, spell them and write them.

Mobiles Distract Study
Mobile phones are becoming a new scene on campus.
Students think it is extremely convenient for them to communicate with the outside world by using mobile phones, especially when they are hunting for jobs, so they call it an essential investment.
Education experts analyze the entry of mobile phones into campus as an indication of social progress. To some extent, it reflects that college students are more and more involved in this modern society, rather than pedants in the "Ivory Tower".
As a coin has two sides, the mobile phone, while providing convenience, causes trouble too. In classrooms, the untimely ringing interrupts lectures and destroys the atmosphere of study, so it prompts many complaints. And the mobile phone users themselves also suffer.
Therefore, we need to think more about how to integrate mobile phones properly into our lives.
How to Study Efficiently
As students, we have to study almost every day. However, not everybody knows how to study efficiently.Do you want to know better about it?
There is some relationships between the study efficiency and the hours spent in studying in a day.In fact, more hours of study do not necessarily result in better or higher study efficiency. It is said that the optimum of efficiency comes when one studies about 5 hours and the efficiency begins to drop as he studies longer than it. By the time when one studies 11 hours per day, his efficiency of study becomes very poor.
In conclusion, there is always a maximum of efficiency and an appropriate amount of time for study in a day. More time spent in study doesn’t always mean greater efficiency.
On TV programs, we can see many foreigners can speak Chinese fluently and sing songs well. Or, walking on the street, we may see a foreigner talking with friends in fluent Chinese. And a lot of Confucius Institutes has been built arond the globe. Indeed, Chinese is more popular around the world than before, and the population speaking Chinese is on the rise. Some people argue that this phenomenon is good for the development of the language and the communication between countries, while others doubt it. As for me, I prefer to the former.
With the Chinese-speaking population becoming larger and larger, Chinese is endowed with greater vitality, which is of great importance to the survival and development of a language. With constant change of time, more new words and phrase from other languages are added to Chinese, which greatly enriches Chinese. What's more, the wide use of Chinese can introduce real Chinese culture to the world so that people from other nations can gain a better and further understanding of China. Since language and culture are closely related, it's impossible to learn a language without learning its culture. Once knowing a nation's culture, the understanding of that nation would be deeper and the barriers would be eliminated gradually.
From the discussions above, with the progressing of globalization, Chinese has been widely recognized and learned. It's a good way to broadcast our nation's culture. However, in view of this situation, we can not be to optimistic, because with the deepening of communication, something bad can be brought to our language, too. Therefore, we should be cautious to thisphenomenon.
